Coquitlam Confucius Institute Got "2014 Confucius Institute of the Year" Awards
The "China National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language" (NOCFL) was established in 1987 as a way to enhance the mutual cultural understanding between the Chinese people and other countries, promote economic trade cooperation, as well as scientific, technological and cultural exchanges between them. The leading group of the NOCFL is composed of leaders from eleven departments of the State Council. This office was named HANBAN. Their official website can be found to click here.
School District No. 43 (Coquitlam), in partnership with South China Normal University, has been approved as a Confucius Classroom site.
In 2011, Confucius Classroom has been changed into Confucius Institute. And it formally started on Feb. 13, 2012.
Confucius Institute provides an opportunity for students to learn the Mandarin language and aspects of Chinese culture.
Confucius Institute classes are designed for students ranging in age from four years old to adult. Previous knowledge of the Mandarin language is not required.
