Summer Intensive ESL and Cultural Program

Morning ESL and Afternoon Activities is an all-inclusive program taught by BC government certified teachers.  The morning portion of this program focuses on practical speaking, listening, reading, vocabulary and writing skills.  All students will write an ESL Assessment Test at the beginning of the program.  After the students are assessed, they are placed in classes according to level (Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced) and age.  Some topics that the students will study include: Getting to Know You, Learning about the Community, Canada Customs and Celebrations, Sports and Hobbies, Celebrating our History, Environmental Issues and Challenges, and Canada and the World.  Students will receive weekly informal report cards, a formal report card, and a certificate of completion.   Students will also take computer classes, where they learn how to make a power point presentation, practice public speaking and writing.  The power point presentation will be put on a USB and given to students as a memory keepsake.

The afternoon portion of the program is a practical extension of the Morning ESL class. It is an opportunity to experience Canadian culture and use newly learned English skills and vocabulary by participating in group activities and by exploring the beautiful outdoors of the Lower Mainland area of British Columbia.  The afternoon cultural program includes such activities as swimming, hiking, golfing, bowling, First Nations arts and crafts and bus trips to popular sightseeing areas like GastownStanley Park, the Vancouver AquariumCapilano Suspension Bridge, the University of British Columbia,MetrotownMuseum of Anthropology, and the H.R.
