低陆平原地区皇家骑警提醒公众一个以诈骗被害者他们的亲人被绑架的勒索手法再次出现。
2017年8月，为了打击针对中国外籍人士的电信诈骗和处理大量资讯而成立专案调查组。皇家骑警开展公共教育活动并与中华人民共和国总领事馆和大专院校密切合作，详解此类诈骗手法。在12月时，一段来自疑犯的自动电话录音也用中文和普通话公告大众，详情请看12月新闻发布。直至上星期警方接获来自低陆平原地区多个报案电话，在此期间没有其他类似报案。
