The credit course program is for international students already enrolled in a BC high school program, or overseas students who are looking for a challenging academic experience. Students can register for one or two academic courses and earn credit toward their BC Dogwood Diploma. Students must meet requirements for pre-requisite courses before confirming their enrollment.
Courses are held in person at Pinetree Secondary. Morning courses run Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM and afternoon courses run 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM.
A list of available courses from summer 2026 is available below. Please note that course offerings may change slightly from year to year, and courses with low enrollment may be cancelled.

Summer ESL & Cultural Program
Coquitlam School District’s Summer ESL & Cultural Program is an all-inclusive program taught by BC government-certified teachers. In English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, students work on practical speaking, listening, reading, vocabulary, and writing skills. All students write an ESL Assessment Test at the beginning of the program. Students receive a formal report card and a certificate of completion.
The cultural program is a practical extension of ESL classes. Students experience Canadian culture and practice English skills and vocabulary by participating in group activities and exploring the beautiful outdoors of the Lower Mainland area of British Columbia. The afternoon cultural program includes such activities as hiking, golfing, bowling, First Nations cultural materials, and bus trips to popular sightseeing areas like Gastown, Stanley Park, the Vancouver Aquarium, Capilano Suspension Bridge, the University of British Columbia, Metrotown, and Playland.
Local student volunteers support students in their ESL classes and afternoon activities.
We are happy to offer referrals to our homestay partners on request.
